Starting in November, 220 Triathlon Magazine developed a ’220 Triathlon Team’ of 3 people they decided to follow for 6 months leading into Port Macquarie Ironman. The chose a novice, first time racer; A Challenger – who has raced a few IM’s; and an Elite athlete, in which they chose to follow me. This has meant that the magazine reports on our training each month, progress and goals. The team has been sponsored by a clothing brand and Dextro Energy, as a nutritional supplier. It also has employed Pete Clifford as a coach/advisor to the team and a sports nutritionist – Rebecca Hay to give cutting edge advice. I have worked closely with Rebecca with trying to solve a few small issues with my nutrition. This has included doing sweat analysis testing, which I recently wrote an article about, including the lessons that I learnt to pass onto others.
This has been a great initiative by 220 Triathlon Magazine and one that has been great to be involved with thus far. I am excited to meet the other participants Steve and Jacquie, who both have great stories, including Jacquie doing some of her training in Afganistan. Have a look out for the most recent February edition, with the April one now being in process! I am also very excited about the upcoming Ironman Oz, not long now!!
