Hello all,

I hope you are all well and training hard.

As you probably already know, the World Championship Hawaiian Ironman is on this Saturday. There is much anticipation around the race, with Australian Craig Alexander going for his 3rd title after a blistering 70.3 race in Las Vegas, where he ran a 1.11 for the half marathon on a super hot and hilly course. He will have very stiff opposition from the likes of Andreas Raelert, Marino Vanhoenacker (who both broke the world record for the Ironman distance this year), crowd favourite Eneko Llanos and a whole string of Ozzie’s who will be pushing the pace.

In the women’s race, few, including myself, believe Chrissie Wellington will ever be beaten, but if anyone can, Mirinda Carfrae may be the lady, especially after setting the Hawaiian run course record last year on her way to winning the race. Along with her there is Linsey Corbin, Rachel Joyce, Caroline Steffen and uber bike Julie Dibens who will be trying to take the title and are genuine contenders. Added to the mix is the fact that Chrissie had a fall a week ago on her bike and took a huge amount of skin off, which no doubt would not have helped her chances.

So with the field as strong and open as ever, I am running a small competition for those that are keen to be involved;

Competition Details

Pick the first 5 place getters, in order, of both the men’s and women’s field, along with who will have the fastest run time and what their time will be. The person who is the closest will win a prize pack consisting of several great items donated kindly by my very generous sponsors K-swiss and Dextro Energy and an AP10 T-Shirt, among other things!

To enter, cut and paste the below headings with your answers as a comment to this page (bottom of this page).

Entries close midday Saturday 8th October 2011 .

Good luck!
